This kifu-sized Tsukumo cypress is a vestige of North American bonsai history. Originating in Vancouver, Canada, the tree was grown at the celebrated Japan Bonsai Nursery, run by proprietor Tak Yamaura. His Tsukumo cypress have become highly prized and cherished for the detail and complexity with which they represent nature in miniature. Having existed as a bonsai in a containerized environment for a significant amount of time, this tree's structure is well developed and established. Moving forward, advancing the refinement and detailed execution of branching transitions out to the tip will elevate this tree to a truly world-class, Gafu-ten–level standard of small bonsai artistry.
