Originally collected by Randy Knight, this juniper spent several years in the collection of Mike Pollock. Over time it's been restyled many times. Upon returning to Mirai, we explored the cascading form of this juniper to take advantage of its very stout base and beautiful live/deadwood interaction. This tree's original deadwood did become detached, and has been reattached in the position we identified as its original location.
The beautiful foliage quality of this Juniperus scopulorum stands apart from almost every other specimen we've worked on at Mirai, with a level of tightness and compactness that rivals shinpaku in quality. Set in the Yamakii container, this composition is unbelievably high-level, with an even higher aesthetic ceiling still ahead of it.
