This really quirky and unique Ponderosa Pine was collected by the Backcountry Boys and has been a beloved tree as we've watched it evolve in the garden. It's three apices and trunk like branches buck traditional bonsai forms in every way. The three different apices have deadwood running the length of their branching, with phenomenal bark, a very strong base, and a wonderful compositional pairing.
The Boulder Bear vessel does have a crack in it, which will likely need repair at the next repotting. That said, this tree could also be shown in a variety of other containers that give it depth and complement its interesting position and gesture as an informal, unexpected take on pine bonsai.
