This unbelievably charming and perfectly executed clump, or kabudachi, Ilex serrata is among the best shohin-sized clump-styles I've ever seen. Slender and delicate, joined at the base with a great mixture of height, girth, and dimensional variation in the trunks this is a stunner. The branches are ramified for the size and scale, and the tree has virtually no scars on any of the trunks. Grown by Patty Myrick, it shows the skill level and expertise she applied to her bonsai practice. For small-tree lovers and kifu size collectors this is a flowering tree of tremendous character.

It is female and will bear fruit if it is cultivated near a male Ilex serrata when it flowers.
