This Ginkgo (Chi-Chi) is an old imported specimen from Japan whose dominant central trunk lost strength as the tree's shin declined in health. Over successive repostings the root system has been reinvigorated and now the Ginkgo is once again growing in health. There's a wound where the original trunk was. Vigorous shoots from the base have now matured and are forming a wonderfully natural and irregular clump grouping of different sized trunks. Two wirings have given the clump shape while pruning has controlled their girth and modified their hierarchy in the design.
Moving forward this tree in the Chi-chi form will rapidly progress and improve in quality. This is a great opportunity to acquire a mature specimen with a bit of history and a lot of upside and potential.
