What a simple but charming composition. This heavily barked, old Engelmann spruce has simple movement and tremendous age. It sits perfectly married to the wonderfully contoured lace rock similar to its original position in the Rockies. The roots, still holding a remnant of the granite from its native rock outcropping, add wildness and informality to the composition. This fall moss is starting to form on the spring applied keto muck. Once the soil surface is covered the composition will take on a whole new life.
It's two years into its journey on the stone, and was wired fall of 2025. The tree has another season with the current wire and a few years before the roots will need to be addressed again. Branch reduction next fall will open the space for this tree to show its next iteration of age.
