This Rocky Mountain Juniper, collected by Randy Knight, is 250 years old and hails from the Rocky Mountains. Originally styled by me, it has been in training for four years and is housed in a Michael Lyme Allen container. This tree features an incredibly rare neogari, or exposed root form, which is exceptional among Rocky Mountain junipers. One of its most striking characteristics is the small live vein that feeds the upper right branch, which snakes around the trunk before deviating into an exposed root section that spirals around the deadwood.

The detail, age, and character of this tree are phenomenal, and it sits beautifully in the Michael Lyme Allen container, which complements the tree stylistically. The asymmetry and antiquity of the tree’s canopy reflect and enhance the theme seen in the trunk. This tree is truly destined for bonsai greatness. It’s difficult to let go, but we believe that sharing this work with the community enriches everyone’s collection and advances the art of bonsai. This is a tree deserving of a truly great home.
