Crater Lake Study
Mirai's Crater Lake Study is the first collection in a series of limited edition fine photography prints inspired by our study of native landscapes, environments, and the legacy of the trees we seek to preserve through the art of bonsai.
This carefully selected set of images tells the story of Crater Lake in four parts:
Crater Lake No. 01 | The Lake
Crater Lake is a geological anomaly– a caldera with an intrinsic beauty developed by the harshest and most erratic conditions weather can bring to an alpine region.
Crater Lake No. 02 | Cronartium ribicola
Remnants of white pine blister rust remain between every granular of soil, every crevice in the rocks, and every crack in the bark of the deceased.
Crater Lake No. 03 | Mother Tree
The few resistant trees to this seemingly unstoppable pathogen are the only hope for the future of the White bark pine on Crater Lake.
Crater Lake No. 04 | Volcanic Remains
The increasing aridity of the landscape at Crater Lake continues to push the boundaries and challenge the existence of the white bark pine.
