Preston Tolbert is a North Carolina–based potter whose work blends historic Catawba Valley techniques with a contemporary, exploratory approach. Beginning on the wheel, he uses traditional “capping” to refine form, then hand-carves geometric patterns inspired by basketry, architecture, and the movement of time. This collection features experimental firings — including reduction, soda, and anagama — each adding its own atmospheric surface, depth, and character to the work.
