As a very malleable thin layer of wax, parafilm is one of the most common tools used to patch and repair tree branches. A combination of callus mate initially applied and then covered with parafilm increases wound healing, branch survival, water loss, and oxygen infiltration into torn tissue of a styled tree.
Parafilm is a wonderful tool for patching and repairing broken branches. In addition, parafilm forms the primary backbone of our scion grafting methodology for both pines and junipers at Mirai. Both flexible and capable of being thinned to an incredibly minimal covering to reduce transpiration, it allows the tree to push through the film naturally and acclimate itself to the external environment.
